Dear Editor,
On Jan. 17 the Milton Police Department Foundation hosted a fabulous fourth annual Officers' Awards Banquet for Milton Police Department. I would like the Milton community to know about some of the dedicated people who did so much behind the scenes to make this a successful event.
For the first time, the foundation partnered with the Milton Events Committee, and we could not have done what we did without you! Special thanks go to Chairman Tom Boyle and members Tom Tuttle and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Costner for their organization and enthusiasm. Second, Mary Thompkins, owner of Dave's Restaurant & Comedy Club, who partnered with Executive Chef Fred Horton to cater the deliciously delightful food.
Thanks to foundation board member Aaron Storck (and wife Jeni) of ARC Printing who kept all the finances in order. Thanks to Brett, Mayor Debra Perry and others from the city who gave their personal time and support.
Words of appreciation to foundation board member Aaron Williams, executive director of the Fife-Milton-Edgewood Chamber of Commerce, who was a grand, extemporaneous master of ceremonies, and to foundation board member Paula Gierke, who provided much-needed logistical supervision. Appreciation to Poppy and Len Sanderson, who ensured the loan of silverware from Mission Woods Church; Heather Hills Community for the loan of tablecloths and to everyone who attended and applauded baritone John B. Cooper, comedian John Keister and the Milton Police Department.
Finally, thanks to the men and women of Milton Police Department for being on the job 24/7 to protect and serve the citizens of Milton (and sometimes, surrounding communities, too.) I have never worked with a more professional, dedicated and intelligent group of law enforcement officers. It is a privilege and an honor to be able to say thank you and God bless you for all you do.
