I was pleased to read that Brookville Gardens Park will soon become a reality. ("Brookville Garden, hatchery plan moves forward," FFP 2/24). I worked at Brookville Gardens for more than 20 years, and I love that land like no other. I took some exception to the statement in the article that the land had been "touched so heavily by man." I was hoping that was a reference to the valley as a whole, and not Brookville Gardens. The farm and the land there were treated with nothing but care and respect. I used to go to those fields, past the creek and along toward the railroad tracks, for some solitude and to feel the rich soil and hear the birds. I look forward to doing that again some day when the park is finished. I am thankful this special piece of property will soon be preserved as outdoor space for the community.
