Milton City Council chambers were packed Jan. 3 as members of the community helped celebrate the swearing in of new Councilmembers Jim Manley and Aaron Jones. Municipal Court Judge Sandra Allen administered oaths of office, also swearing in returning Councilmembers Lois Zaroudny and Bob Whalen and Mayor Debra Perry.

Councilmember Bart Taylor will retain his position as mayor pro-tempore for a one-year term.

“I’m humbled and honored,” Taylor said. “I have enjoyed the past two years as mayor pro-tem, and I thank council for having faith in me to serve again this year.”

Whalen, now the city’s senior council member, nominated Taylor and is happy with the council’s unanimous vote. “It’s refreshing to have someone as dedicated and committed as Bart to serve as mayor pro-tem,” he said. “I’m exceedingly happy with council’s decision.”
