Parks Appreciation Day Draws Record Crowd
Fife's annual Parks Appreciation Day drew many hands and working muscles, the largest number of volunteers in recent memory.
The high turnout came through a series of factors. The weather cooperated, bringing clear skies and warm temperatures. Arbor Day activities and the unveiling of the city's first public art funneled more volunteers to the effort, and a small army of Comcast employees totaling some 150 people fleshed out the duty roster at key parks projects.
Comcast employees volunteered their time as part of the communication company's Comcast Cares Day, when the company fields some 67,000 people for a day of volunteering as a way to promote community involvement.
