In spite of overcast skies and intermittent rain, about 2,000 people turned out at the Fife Harvest Festival for food and family fun.
“People braved the rain and came out,” said Laurel Potter, marketing director of the city of Fife. “Things went really, really well.
The entertainers went off smoothly. There were so many things to do throughout
the day.”
Area residents arrived early in the morning for a Fun Run, followed by a pancake breakfast,
sponsored by the local Kiwanis. A parade from City Hall to Dacca Park commenced at 11 a.m., and residents lined the streets to watch and get handouts of candy, flowers and treats. Throughout the late morning and afternoon, attendees wandered Dacca Park, watching shows on two outdoor stages, visiting vendor booths, tasting buttered Council Corn on the Cob, and participating in family activities.
In the evening, many retreated to the Columbia Junior High cafeteria for a chili feed, and later, to the Really Big Show, which was so big many had to stand to watch the show. The day ended on a bright note, with fire dancers and a fireworks show.
