The Milton Senior Center Advisory Board and Milton Fire Department are hosting a fundraising breakfast May 10 to buy housewarming gifts for Edgewood’s future Civic Center.

All-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, juice, tea and coffee will be cooked up by the pros that morning in order to help their closest neighbor have a suitable kitchen of their own.

Jean Waldherr is an Edge-wood resident who sits on Milton’s 12-member advisory board.

She said the board cooks meals to raise money for various causes on a regular basis.

In this situation, it is less about Edgewood being in need than simply building the relationship between the two cities.

“I was looking at plans for the Civic Center, and I thought, ‘Gee, they’re going to have a nice big kitchen…We’ve got to go ahead and stock the kitchen.’”

Waldherr knows the impor- tance of a good kitchen for a community. She helps out with Milton’s Wednesday luncheons and volunteers cooking in the kitchen often.

Anna Ballard, senior pro-gram coordinator for the Milton Activity Center, said Edgewood and Milton help each other out when they can.

“We have a lot of Edge-wood people who come here, and we need to work together as a community,” she said.

Ballard said she thought the kitchen supplies would give Edgewood a “boost” if they decide to start regular luncheons or want to rent out the facility for events.

To generate the food for the expected 300 people, Milton has received donations from local food suppliers and volunteers have also been selling reusable grocery bags to raise money.

A $4 donation is request-ed to eat, and Waldherr said they are hoping to raise at least $1,000 for the kitchen.

Show your support and fill up on a hearty home-cooked breakfast, come to the Milton Activity Center, 1000 Laurel Street, between 8-10 a.m. May 10.
